Pre-feasibility study for North Africa’s first electric power export project to Europe. Trident, later renamed ElMed, is a 1200 MW integrated solar combined cycle project being developed at an estimated initial cost of $1.4 billion.

The project seeks to export electricity to Europe via undersea transmission cable to Sicily, utilizing Tunisia’s abundant solar and non-commercial offshore natural gas resources.

Upon completion, ElMed would become one of the backbones for an integrated Mediterranean energy market.
